Who we are
The Midnight Papers is a garage rock duo from Houston, Texas that is influenced by proto-punk and new wave. Their sound is a combination of fuzzed out, distorted guitar tone, powerful drums, and melodic female lead vocals. Their music is a little bit Pretenders, a little bit The Kills and a little bit Patti Smith.
The band’s debut album was released on June 26, 2025, and within its first six months sold over 160 physical copies and was streamed over 20,000 times. The album was chosen as one of Houston Chronicle’s 10 Best Houston Albums of 2025, with music critic Joey Guerra calling it “a hard-charging collection that still maintains polish and accessibility. It's equal parts kick and kitsch.” Music review blog If It's Too Loud said the release absolutely slots the band "in the garage/grunge tradition, with crunchy guitars and a punk rock attitude that's infused throughout the record." Since its release, songs from the album have been played on the air on KTRU in Houston, WZBC in Boston, and Sun Radio in Austin, among many others.
The band completed its first out-of-state tour in July 2025, playing Memphis, Tennessee and Jackson, Mississippi, as well as several dates in Louisiana. The band has also performed extensively throughout Texas, playing Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Fort Worth, San Marcos, Beaumont, Magnolia and Laredo in addition to Houston. The duo played its first SXSW in March 2025.
The Midnight Papers are: Tiffany Hamilton on guitar and vocals, and Tim Richey on drums and vocals.
